Wem & Prees Medical Practice

With patient's needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

The practice operates from two separate sites in the Shropshire villages of Wem and Prees. Although in different locations they work together to serve the same catchment area

Named Accountable GP

All practices are required to allocate a named, accountable GP to all patients, including children. As the practice operates a personalised list your registered GP is your named, accountable GP, who is responsible for the provision of your healthcare. Please ask your doctor, or the reception staff if you would like to know who your named GP is.

Please be aware that this does not affect your ability to make an appointment with any of the GPs in the practice of your choosing.

Average GP Earnings

NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below. However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Wem Medical Practice in the last financial year 2016/2017 was £63,464 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 0 full time GPs, 8 part time GPs and 0 locum GPs who have worked in the practice for more than six months.
